Not every couple needs a full-service planner, but having one in your corner, whether for the full journey or just the final month, can dramatically improve your wedding experience. Personally, for me and my wedding back in 2022, I definitely would have benefited from at least a day-of coordinator. So many little things came up during the wedding day, and I didn't want to burden my wife to deal with anything, so I was running around a lot, helping to organize vendors instead of spending time with our guests. I think having someone I could have delegated all these tasks to would certainly have had a positive impact on the experience of my wedding day.
Pros of Hiring a Planner:
- Peace of mind. They manage logistics so you can be fully present.
- Vendor expertise. Planners often know and recommend great professionals.
- Flow and timing. They keep everything on track, especially during unpredictable moments.
- Problem solving. When surprises arise, they are the first line of defense.
Cons to Consider:
- Budget considerations. Planning services are an investment.
- Not always necessary for smaller events. For intimate or highly DIY weddings, a month-of coordinator might be enough.
- It can be venue-dependent. Some venues have someone on staff, and they are amazing. Some venues will require you to have at least a day-of coordinator. Check with your venue during the booking process.
Even if you are planning most of the wedding yourself, bringing in a coordinator for the final stretch can help everything feel smoother and more enjoyable on the day itself. The calmer and more organized the experience, the more it reflects in your photos.
